    En la actualidad va creciendo el consenso sobre la necesidad de atender de forma especializada y diferenciada las necesidades educativas especiales de los estudiantes con alta capacidad matemática.

    Paralelamente, se percibe un incremento en la cantidad de investigaciones centradas en este colectivo.

    En este texto, presentamos una panorámica de los resultados de investigaciones recientes, españolas e internacionales, sobre estudiantes con alta capacidad matemática. Después ofrecemos una síntesis de las investigaciones que estamos desarrollando en la Universitat de València basadas en diversos contenidos matemáticos pero con los objetivos comunes de entender mejor los procesos cognitivos de los estudiantes con alta capacidad matemática de Primaria y ESO y de proporcionar a los profesores materiales que les ayuden a atender adecuadamente a estos estudiantes en sus clases ordinarias.

    There is growing consensus on the need to consider in a specialized and differentiated way the special educational needs of mathematically gifted students. At the same time, there is an increase in the number of research focused on those students. In this text, we present an overview of the results of recent research, both Spanish and international, on mathematically gifted students. Next, we offer a synthesis of the research we are developing at the University of Valencia based on various mathematical contents but with the common objectives of better understanding the cognitive processes of students with high mathematical ability in Primary and Lower Secondary schools and to provide teachers with materials that may help them to adequately teach to these students in their regular classes.
