Gender gap in computer science engineering studies takes different forms, and the lack of women in these studies is just the most obvious one. After decades of paying attention to this phenomenon and after many actions against it, not only no solid results have been obtained, but also very little knowledge has been gained about its causes or the effectiveness of the adopted measures. Some of them, in addition, could arguably turn out to be counterproductive. In this paper a reflection is made about the need of considering gender gap-related measures especially important and applying them only under tough criteria, after assessing their impact, side effects, goals and later evaluation
