In this article, I approach the phenomenon of the denial and invisibility of race, racism, and racialization in Mathematics Education research. I argue that this phenomenon is best understood from the perspective of white supremacy, which, as a dominant global system of thought, configures the methods and logic in the field, organizing and structuring its onto-epistemic processes. My main goal in writing this article is to establish a respectful yet critical conversation about racial issues in our field. I believe this is a fundamental step toward advancing our comprehension of racial violence in the field and the possibilities of a liberating and anti-racist Mathematics Education. I conclude my essay with a discussion of the ethical and epistemic challenges involved in blackening mathematics education, inspired by the essay "Blackening Feminism" by Brazilian philosopher Sueli Carneiro.
