Resumen de Visitas guiadas a centros de procesamiento de datos (CPD) para las asignaturas de “Configuración y Evaluación de Sistemas Informáticos” y “Redes”

  En la actualidad, el sistema universitario español se rige por la adquisición de competencias de lasdiferentes asignaturas (Villa, A. 2020). Sin embargo, muchas de las asignaturas, especialmente aque-llas que son más técnicas y que tienen aplicabilidad de uso en entornos específicos, encuentran di-ficultades para que sus alumnos adquieran las diferentes competencias y conocimientos dentro delaula. Este es el caso de las asignaturas de “Configuración y Evaluación de Sistemas Informáticos” yla asignatura de “Redes” (Escuela Politécnica Superior de Córdoba, s.f.), asignaturas obligatorias co-rrespondientes al 3º año del grado de Ingeniería Informática. En estas asignaturas dentro del temariose encuentran conceptos como el diseño y configuración de sistemas informáticos de uso específico(servidores) y la interconexión y comunicación entre diferentes sistemas informáticos. Estos concep-tos se pueden impartir en el aula mediante las tradicionales imágenes en presentaciones o en vídeos,sin embargo, no es posible mostrar la esencia del entrono real que se pretende explicar. Por ello,este trabajo presenta, en colaboración con el Servicio de Informática de la Universidad de Córdoba(Universidad de Córdoba, s.f.), la realización de visitas guiadas a los centros de procesamiento dedatos (CPD). Estas guías, se planifican dentro del horario de clase permitiendo que el alumno, juntoa los profesores, sea guiado al CPD de la propia universidad donde se alojan todos los servidoresque proporcionan servicio informático a toda la universidad. La visita se realiza con la colaboración depersonal específico que muestra los diferentes elementos de las instalaciones, los diferentes equiposy sus tipos, la interconexión y las comunicaciones de los mismos, así como la configuración. Al ser unaclase impartida por un especialista que trabaja diariamente en este ámbito, se persigue que el espe-cialista añada sus puntos de vista desde el lado profesional de la gestión y administración de dichossistemas permitiendo de este modo que los alumnos tengan un enfoque más real, al mismo tiempo queadquieren los conocimientos necesarios. Además, esta actividad permite romper la rutina de leccionesmagistrales al mismo tiempo que permite realizar una actividad fuera del aula.

  Currently, the Spanish university system is governed by the acquisition of competencies in the differentcourses (Villa, A. 2020). However, many of the subjects, especially those that are more technical andhave applicability of use in specific environments, encounter difficulties for their students to acquire thedifferent competencies and knowledge within the classroom. This is the case of the subjects “Configu-ration and Evaluation of Computer Systems” and “Networks” (Escuela Politécnica Superior de Córdo-ba, n.d.), both compulsory subjects corresponding to the 3rd year of the Computer Engineering degree.The syllabus of these subjects includes concepts such as the design and configuration of specificcomputer systems (servers) and the interconnection and communication between different computersystems. These concepts can be taught in the classroom through traditional images in presentationsor videos; however, it is not possible to show the essence of the real environment to be explained. Forthis reason, this work presents, in collaboration with the Computer Service of the University of Cordo-ba (Universidad de Córdoba, n.d.), the realization of guided visits to data processing centers (DPC).These guides are planned within the class schedule allowing the student, together with the professors,to be guided to the DPC of the university. Here, all servers that provide computer service to the entireuniversity are hosted. The visit is carried out by specific staff who show the different elements of thefacilities, the different equipment, and their types, their interconnection, and their communications aswell as their configuration. Being a class taught by a specialist who works daily in this field, the aim isthat the specialist adds his points of view from the professional side of the management and adminis-tration of these systems, thus allowing students to have a more realistic approach while acquiring thenecessary knowledge. In addition, this activity allows us to break the routine of lectures and at the sametime allows us to perform an activity outside the classroom.
