Solving cubic equations using linear fractional transformation

• Resumen

  • In this note, we make use of the linear fractional transformation to solve the cubic equation. The proposed method involves only one cube root, unlike the Cardan’s method which involves two cube roots. Also, when compared with the Tschirnhaus transformation method, which generates true as well as false solutions, the proposed method yields only true solutions.
