Resumen de Estudiantes de sexto de primaria comparan funciones lineales: el rol del lenguaje natural

  En este trabajo analizamos las respuestas escritas y orales de seis estudiantes de quinto/sexto deprimaria (10-12 años) al resolver diferentes problemas que involucran la comparación de funcioneslineales. En el contexto del pensamiento algebraico, el objetivo del trabajo es identificar y describircómo los estudiantes usan el lenguaje natural al resolver problemas que involucran la comparaciónde dos funciones. Empleamos un sistema de categorías que permite describir el modo en que losestudiantes expresan sus ideas a través del lenguaje natural (escrito u oral). Los principaleshallazgos muestran que los estudiantes generalizan y reconocen la variación en las funcionesinvolucradas en los problemas mediante este tipo de representación. Finalmente, discutimos laimportancia del lenguaje natural cuando los estudiantes interactúan con contenidos de carácteralgebraico.

  In this work, we analyze written and oral responses of six fifth/sixth graders (10-12 years) solvingdifferent problems that involve the comparison of linear functions. In the context of algebraicthinking, our goal is to identify and describe how students use natural language when solvingproblems that involve the comparison of two functions. We use a system of categories that allows usto describe how students express their ideas through natural language (written or oral). The mainfindings show that students generalize and recognize the variation in functions involved in problemsusing this type of representation. Finally, we argue the importance of natural language when studentsinteract with algebraic ideas.
