The entrepreneurial spirit has played a crucial role in recent decades in the creation and development of new companies, which is contributing considerably to the economic growth of countries. According to the OECD report (2019), since the crisis, market conditions for SMEs and entrepreneurship have increased notably, thanks to factors such as increased global investments or improved business confidence. In general, bank loans to SMEs have increased at a moderate rate, in most OECD countries, facilitating the internal financing of these companies.

Many companies also seek other types of financing, the figure of the informal investor or "business angel" being especially important. The present work aims to carry out a bibliometric analysis of informal investors to assess their importance, role played, different trends and characteristics depending on the area of execution of the investment. An analysis will be carried out of the publications related to informal investors found in the Scopus database (Scimago Research Group). The main results have been an exponential evolution in this field in the period 1981-2020. This paper details the most relevant terms associated with entrepreneurship by informal investors, the framework in which it is developed and the most relevant aspects in the decision to invest. Likewise, the most relevant conclusions of the most prominent authors on entrepreneurship as well as a review of the most competent countries on the subject have also been included. The conclusions will revolve around the importance of informal investors to carry out entrepreneurial projects
