Resumen de Estudiantes adultos y sus representaciones sociales acerca de la escuela secundaria de adultos: una exploración utilizando la técnica de grupos de enfoque

  Se presentan los resultados de cinco grupos focales realizados con estudiantes de la Escuela Secundaria de Adultos (ESA) para relevar y caracterizar sus intereses para  asistir a esa institución. Se exploran sus Representaciones Sociales (RS) acerca de la función social y personal de la ESA. Como primera aproximación a la problemática, a partir del análisis de las transcripciones de los grupos focales implementados y del  software ATLAS.ti®, se realizó una categorización inductiva de las respuestas. Los  resultados indican que las RS identificadas no permiten a estos estudiantes analizar críticamente si la escuela los encamina a conseguir sus objetivos. Los resultados  constituyen insumos para realizar una encuesta. También indican la necesidad de  considerar a los intereses y a las RS de los adultos entre los factores que se deben tener en cuenta para repensar la ESA.

  The results of five focus groups with Adult High School (AHS) students to explore and characterize their interests to attend this institution are presented. Their Social Representations (SR) about the social and personal function of the AHS are explored. As a first approach to this issue, an inductive categorization was made from analysis of the printed transcript of the conversations, and the software Atlas.ti®. The results indicate that the SR identified do not allow these students to critically analyze if the school guides them to achieve their objectives. The results constitute the basis for conducting a survey. Also, the results indicate the need to consider the interests and SR of adults among the factors that must be considered to rethink the AHS.
