    • Sole offers teaching tips to help facilitate the class discussion and successfully implement the lesson that taught students how to shop intelligently and get the most for their money by analyzing and applying discounts. Before starting this lesson, students had worked with percentage problems and linear equations, and they had solved systems of linear equations graphically. Each group was asked to place on the board the work that led them to what they believed was the best deal. An alternative approach through graph presents an opportunity for teachers to further push their students to develop a deeper level of understanding of graphs and proportional reasoning.
