We asked a group of sophomore students, from a course for future Mathematics teachers, to solve some algebraic inequalities with one real unknown, leaving behind the steps of their resolutions. In their answers we tried identifying formal, intuitive and algorithmic aspects as recommends Fischbein (1993). None seems knowing formal aspects; more than 50% don’t master algorithmic aspects as well and uses just intuitive ones. We understand that a functional graphic approach, then not strictly algebraic, can help inequalities algebraic resolution learning process.
