Resumen de La extracción de raíces en el Tratado de Mathematicas (1573) del bachiller Juan Pérez de Moya

  Si se atiende al número de ediciones de algunas de sus obras y al volumen de su producción, no cabe duda de que el bachiller Juan Pérez de Moya es el matemático español más notable del siglo XVI. En este artículo se analizan los contenidos concernientes al tópico «extracción de raíces» propuestospor el bachilleren el Tratado de Mathematicas (1573) y se comparan con los que se desarrollan en textos de la misma época. A la luz de esta comparación, se pretende situar al matemático jienense (en cuanto al estudio de las raíces de números naturales se refiere) en el lugar que le corresponde dentro de la Matemática renacentista.

  According to the number of editions of some of his works and to the volume of its production it is clear that the Bachelor Juan Pérez de Moya is the most outstanding Spanish mathematician of the sixteenth century. In this paper we analyze the contents concerning the topic «extraction of roots» (Tratado de Mathematicas, 1573) and we compare them with those developed in texts from the same period of time. In light of this comparison, it is expected to place the Spanish mathematician (as for the study of the roots of natural numbers is concerned) in his right place within Renaissance Mathematics.
