  • Resumen
    • The rapid growth of the Web has made possible that more and more data resources become available, thus allowing users increasingly easy access to them.

Thus, the Web has established itself as an important source of data. Given the strategic value of data in the running of business processes, and taken into account that more frequently this data is published to, and consumed from Internet, individuals and organizations need to monitor the quality of data, trying to assure acceptable levels of quality for the applications that use them.

However, most of the current Web applications do not implement mechanisms being able to manage Data Quality (DQ). To implement these mechanisms, Web application developers must first know how users understand the concept of data quality according to their tasks, and then to gather and manage such data quality requirements. To better achieve this, developers need useful mechanisms that allow them capturing, representing and include these perception in Web applications development from the earliest stages.

Unfortunately, and despite the objective benefits that can be achieved from the use of such mechanisms, the area of Web application development has not still addressed the management of data quality requirements, having reached this conclusion once done a pertinent systematic review. In this revision, we have not found any works presenting methodological or technological proposals developed by researchers in Software Engineering or Data Quality. Therefore, as can be seen, it is a problem requiring solution at both of methodological and technological levels.

Thus, the main goal of this thesis is to propose a framework that permit to generate the necessary mechanism both methodological and technological, to allow Web application developers a correct management of specific Data Quality Requirements (DQR). These DQRs will complement the remainder of the software requirements for the Web Applications, in order to build Data Quality Awareness Applications.
