  • Resumen
    • The updating of teaching with computational tools is crucial to meet the growing digital demand of the industry. In the subject of Mechanics within the Industrial Technology Engineering degree, students learn to develop mathematical models of the kinematics of mechanical systems. However, understanding the fundamental concepts and visualising motion from the obtained equations is not intuitive. To overcome this limitation and bridge theory with practical engineering applications, an active and collaborative experience is implemented. This experience involves simulating the motionof a windshield wiper from two perspectives: specific computer-aided design software and a computer algebra system to solve the posed mathematical model, applying knowledge from previous numerical methods courses. The goal is for students to acquire a systematic simulation approach involving conceptualization, decomposition, problem-solving, and interpretation, which can be adapted to other cases. Evaluation through individual surveys indicates that this work promotes cooperation and motivation byconnecting theory with practice, as well as enhancing motion visualisation. The rubric used to assess the students’ projects identified opportunities for improvement, particularly in using mathematical prior knowledge to solve the kinematic equations and in the interpretation of results
