This article presents an investigation into Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) in autonomous military underwater vehicles (Unmanned Underwater Vehicles – UUV). The challenges in adapting FMECA to underwater environments will be presented, considering the importance of identifying, evaluating and mitigating failures in critical equipment. Methodologies that are applicable in complex systems will be explored and processed, in this case equipment for an autonomous underwater vehicle. The applicability of FMECA integration in UUV life cycle analysis will be verified. With the demonstration and analysis of practical examples, it will be demonstrated how FMECA can improve the reliability, safety and operability of UUVs. This investigation demonstrates the importance of monitoring the condition of this equipment to ensure the success of UUV missions.
