Estrategia para el impulso de los trabajos final de grado y doctorado sobre Cooperación Internacional y Tecnología para el Desarrollo Humano

    En el año 2000 inició su andadura en España un concurso para premiar los mejores proyectos fin de carrera (PFC) en el área de la Cooperación Internacional al Desarrollo dentro del ámbito de la Tecnología para el Desarrollo Humano. Este concurso ha tenido un carácter bienal, pasando de estar impulsada en su primera edición por el Consejo General de Colegios Oficiales de Ingenieros Industriales a contar con el impulso y coordinación de Ingeniería Sin Fronteras (ISF) España. Este cambio ha permitido ampliar el conjunto de entidades promotoras y colaboradoras, incorporando las principales universidades técnicas de España. E introducir junto con el concurso de PFC el de tesis doctorales, respondiendo así al objetivo estratégico de ISF de potenciar la investigación universitaria en estos temas.

    En esta ponencia se realiza un estudio de los proyectos fin de carrera que se han presentado al concurso durante las tres últimas convocatorias: incluyendo el análisis de las áreas en las que se han desarrollado, las organizaciones que han participado, el centro donde se han desarrollado, etc. Las cifras crecientes nos demuestran el interés que está surgiendo dentro del ámbito universitario por la realización de proyectos de esta índole. Este análisis también nos permite mostrar la participación, colaboración y aportación de la Universidad en el sector de la cooperación para el desarrollo a través de los proyectos fin de carrera que en estas Universidades se defienden.

    In the year 2000 a biannual contest was created in Spain to give an award to the best projects in the field of International Development Cooperation and in the area of Technology for Human Development. This contest was promoted in the beginning by The General Council of Chambers of Industrial Engineers. Then, Engineering Without Borders- Spain (Ingeniería Sin Fronteras, ISF) took up the promotion and co-ordination of this contest. Due to this change it has been possible to extend the set of sponsor and collaborator entities, including Spanish Technical Universities. It has been created also the first contest of doctoral thesis, answering to the strategic aim of Engineering Without Borders- Spain: to promote the University research in the field of development cooperation.

    This paper presents an analysis of the projects presented to the contest during its three editions. The analysis includes the areas where the projects have been developed, the organizations that have participated and the schools or faculties were the projects have been developed. The increasing numbers show that the interest on developing projects in this field of International Cooperation in the University is growing. The analysis shows as well the participation, collaboration and contribution of the University to the International Development Cooperation through these projects that University students have to prepare and defend.
