    En este trabajo de investigación se pone a consideración algunas técnicas, métodos y herramientas utilizadas en la ingeniería de software libre para el desarrollo de proyectos informáticos a nivel académico, se plantea la conformación de kerneles de trabajo discriminados en las diferentes etapas que componen el ciclo de vida de desarrollo de software, así como las herramientas libres que se utilizan en cada una de las fases de este proceso; se presenta, además, las funciones y principales artefactos que se deben obtener al aplicar la Ingeniería de Software Libre, ISL . Por último se comenta de manera breve algunos casos prácticos sobre aplicaciones implantadas en entidades de carácter nacional.

    This research puts in consideration some techniques, methods and tools used in the free software engineering for the informatic projects development in academic level, It takes the conformation of work kernels, these, discriminated in the different stages that compose the cycle of life of software development, as well as, the free tools that are used in each one of the phases of this process, It presents too, the functions and main products that should be obtained when applying the Free Software Engineering, FSE. By the End, it comments in a brief way some practical cases on applications implanted in state organizations of national character.
