    El objetivo de esta investigación a sido describir los niveles de ansiedad matemática en estudiantes de secundaria de la U.E “Teófilo Vargas Candía” de manera global, y establecer si existe o no relación entre la ansiedad matemática que presenta cada uno y el género. Es un estudio de diseño no experimental, de tipo transversal y del alcance exploratorio correlacional. La muestra consta de 127 estudiantes (45.67% mujeres y 44.33% hombres). Los datos fueron recolectados a través de un cuestionario online que incluye perfil sociodemográfico y de escalas de ansiedad matemática con 12 ítems distribuidos en tres subescalas. A partir de estos datos se utilizó un análisis estadístico descriptivo y la Prueba U de Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney para determinar las posibles diferencias entre los niveles de ansiedad matemática por género. Los resultados muestran que existe una ansiedad matemática moderada y que los hombres presentan una mayor ansiedad ante los exámenes que las mujeres. En conclusión, los resultados de esta investigación podrían ayudar a los profesores de matemática a comprender mejor cómo se sienten sus estudiantes cuando practican y realizan actividades relacionadas con las matemáticas y qué tipo de estrategias podrían diseñarse para mejorar los sentimientos de ansiedad matemática en los estudiantes.

    The objective of this research was to describe the levels of mathematical anxiety in high school students of the U.E. “Teófilo Vargas Candía” in a global manner, and to establish whether or not there is a relationship between the mathematical anxiety that each one presents and gender. It is a non-experimental, cross-sectional study with an exploratory correlational scope. The sample consists of 127 students (45.67% women and 44.33% men). The data were collected through an online questionnaire that includes a sociodemographic profile and mathematics anxiety scales with 12 items distributed in three subscales. From these data, a descriptive statistical analysis and the Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney U Test were used to determine possible differences between levels of mathematics anxiety by gender. The results show that there is moderate mathematics anxiety and that men have greater test anxiety than women. In conclusion, the results of this research could help mathematics teachers better understand how their students feel when they practice and perform mathematics-related activities and what types of strategies could be designed to improve students' feelings of mathematics anxiety.
