Resumen de Estudio descriptivo de la ansiedad matemática en estudiantes mexicanos de ingeniería

  La importancia del afecto en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje de las matemáticas es innegable. Respuestas afectivas como la ansiedad matemática o la autoconfianza pueden tener una fuerte influencia en el desempeño de los estudiantes en todos los niveles educativos, incluido el universitario. Trabajos precedentes muestran que incluso en carreras con orientación matemática como son las ingenierías hay alumnos que las experimentan. A pesar de lo anterior, en México este tipo de análisis es poco frecuente; nuestro trabajo tiene por objetivo estudiar el nivel de ansiedad y la autoconfianza que presentan estudiantes de ingeniería, cuando se enfrentan a tareas matemáticas. Los resultados muestran que existen futuros ingenieros con niveles muy altos de ansiedad matemática y que esta está negativamente correlacionada con su nivel de autoconfianza.

  The importance of affect in the teaching-learning process of mathematics is undeniable. Affective responses such as math anxiety or self-confidence can have a strong influence on student performance at all educational levels, including university. Previous works show that even in mathematically oriented careers such as engineering, there are students who experience the previously mentioned anxiety. Despite the above, in Mexico this type of analysis is rare; our work aims to study the level of anxiety and self-confidence that engineering students present when they are faced with mathematical tasks. The results show that there are future engineers with very high levels of mathematical anxiety and that this is negatively correlated with their level of self-confidence.
