Resumen de Matemáticas y cine: un binomio que funciona

  Por sus características, el cine es un recurso didáctico de primer orden para el estudio de las Ciencias y otras disciplinas, que no debemos dejar pasar la oportunidad de poner a disposición de nuestros alumnos. Entre otras muchas cualidades notables, el cine asegura aprendizajes significativos y goza de gran predicamento entre el alumnado, lo cual incide de forma muy positiva en la motivación y atención, independientemente del estilo de aprendizaje del discente.

  El presente trabajo intenta profundizar en el marco teórico adecuado para la utilización del cine en el aula, incidiendo también en el apartado práctico, ya que presenta escenas concretas de películas y series aplicadas a contenidos propios de los currículos de matemáticas y/o Estadística, tanto en Educación Secundaria como en Bachillerato y en Grados universitarios. Dichas películas son las americanas “El golpe”, “Sydney” y “The cooler”, y la serie española “La peste”. Dichos filmes nos servirán para ilustrar los temas de Probabilidad y la Función Exponencial.

  Haremos hincapié, en todo momento, no solo en lo tocante al rigor científico, sino también a la educación en valores, el apartado emocional y, en general, a la potenciación que proporciona el Séptimo Arte de los contenidos y competencias que deben adquirir nuestros alumnos.

  Due to its characteristics, cinema is a first-rate educational resource for the study of Science and other disciplines, which we must making available to our students. Among many other notable qualities, cinema ensures significant learning and has got great prestige among students, with a very positive impact on motivation and attention, regardless of their learning style.

  The present work tries to describe the appropriate theoretical framework for the use of cinema in the classroom, also focusing on the practical section, since it presents specific scenes from films and series applied to contents of the Mathematics and/or Statistics curricula, both in Secondary Education as well as in Baccalaureate and in University Degrees. These films are the American ones “The sting”, “Hard Eight” and “The cooler”, and the Spanish series “La peste”.

  These films will help us to illustrate the topics of Probability and the Exponential Function. We will emphasize not only the scientific rigor, but also education in values, the emotional aspect and, in general, the empowerment provided by the Seventh Art of the contents and skills that our students must acquire .
