  • This paper presents an overview of nonparametric contributions in the literature on estimation problems when the observations are taken from weighted distributions. Many situations involving biased data in a very diverse range of contexts are considered, with emphasis being placed on the applications of smoothing techniques to estimate curves, such as density and regression functions. Some important problems encountered in semiparametric models are also analyzed
