We present a method to reduce a polynomial Hamiltonian PDE H to a Hamiltonian ODE in n degrees of freedom under some conditions that the quadratic part of H must satisfy. The technique is based on the construction of adequate normal forms for PDEs and generalises the one given by A. Mielke. We apply this procedure to an example of nonlinear PDEs.
