    Euclides escribió un tratado de agrimensura titulado Sobre la División de las Figuras que se perdió en las múltiples vicisitudes por las que atravesó la Biblioteca de Alejandría. Tenemos noticia de él gracias a la obra de Proclo (siglo V d.C.). Se ha podido restaurar tras un largo viaje del mismo a través de algunos manuscritos árabes, textos de geometría de los siglos XII y XIII y traducciones al latín y otras lenguas a partir del árabe, de los siglos XVI a XIX. Esto permitió a Raymond Clare Archibald publicar una reconstrucción del citado texto en 1915.

    Euclid wrote a land surveying treatise entitled On the Division of Figures that was lost in the many vicissitudes through which the Library of Alexandria crossed. We have news of this work thanks to Proclo (Vth century d.C.). It has been possible to be recovered after a long journey through some Arabic manuscripts, geometry texts from the 12th and 13th centuries and translations into Latin and other languages from Arabic, from the 16th to the 19th cen- turies. This allowed Raymond Clare Archibald to publish a reconstruction of the cited text in 1915.
