    • XML-based user interface specification languages like XForms and XIML are aimed at a high-level specification of user interfaces separated from the actual representation of the user interface in a particular technology or platform. These specification languages use a common collection of extensible abstract user interface components to express technology-independent interactions, which can be mapped to a range of heterogeneous devices. Nonetheless, they currently do not provide elements to declaratively design personalized behaviors. In this paper, the extension of XForms to provide such kind of extensible personalization behaviors is described, along with some details about the design of a prototype using the Chiba platform.
