  • In the last years there has been some interest in studying mappings in the fractional Sobolev space W1/2(Ω, S1), see e.g., [4] [3] [15] [12] and the paper [5]. Motivated by these papers, we characterize here in the framework of Cartesian currents, see [9], the class of weak limits of sequences of smooth mappings with values into S1 with equibounded W1/2 energies.
