• There exist several contexts in which routing and loading decisions are intertwined. Yet, because each gives rise to a difficult combinatorial optimization problem, it is customary to treat them separately. In recent years, a number of researchers have investigated problems in which routing and loading are optimized simultaneously. The literature on these combined problems is still relatively new, yet sufficient to warrant a survey, which Manuel Iori and Silvano Martello have done masterfully.
