    La enseñanza del cálculo, como parte de la asignatura de matemáticas, se enmarca dentro una educación que tiene como objetivo la adquisición de competencias clave: Se debe dotar al alumno no sólo de conocimientos, sino de habilidades y actitudes, que le ayuden a motivarse a aprender y a aplicar los conocimientos en diferentes situaciones.

    Los materiales manipulativos, ayudan a los niños a entender los contenidos complejos y a preparar su mente para la abstracción; les ayudan a motivarse a aprender; a tener confianza en sus posibilidades y; a convertirse en sujetos activos de su propio aprendizaje. El ábaco japonés o Soroban, es una fantástica herramienta manipulativa para aprender cálculo y para contribuir al desarrollo integral del niño.

    The teaching of the calculation, as part of the subject of mathematics, is part of an education that aims to acquire key competencies: The student must be provided not only with knowledge, but also with skills and attitudes that help him motivate himself to learn and apply knowledge in different situations. Manipulative materials help children understand complex contents and prepare their minds for abstraction; they help them motivate themselves to learn; to have confidence in their possibilities and; to become active subjects of their own learning. The Japanese abacus or Soroban, is a fantastic manipulative tool to learn calculus and to contribute to the integral development of the child.
