We solve the Diophantine equation yx-xy = k(yz – zz), where x, y, z, k are positive integers with x ≠ y ≠ z, and others like it using only elementary methods. Other Diophantine equations of exponential or algebraic type are solved by use of harmonic-geometric-arithmetic-quadratic-contraharmonic mean inequalities.
