In this paper, the reception of Einstein's Theories of Relativity in Spain is analysed, from its I 905 seminal articles to his I 923 visit. From Spanish academic point of view, it was Mathematics and mathematicians (not Physics nor physicists) who should take care of Einstein and his contributions ... although reality was not that clear at last. In order to clarify these ideas, the significant role played by Blas Cabrera and Jose M" Plans is remarked.
