• Compton formula, which gives the wavelength shift of a photon scattered by an electron at rest, can be generalized to the case in which the electron has a non negligible linear momentum. This generalization is based in the conservation of relativistic energy and momentum. The contrast with the Inverse Compton Effect is also considered.
