Resumen de Valoración e intervención de un video educativo odontopediátrico como actividad docente.

  Introducción: En odontopediatría, la docencia puede mejorar la entrega de conocimientos y competencias en las actividades clínicas con el uso de videos educativos.

  Objetivo: Evaluar la intervención pedagógica de un video odontopediátrico educativo en el área de “Prevención y control del medio bucal en niños” a un grupo de alumnos que realizaron el curso de Odontopediatría de la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad de Chile.

  Material y Método: Se realizó un estudio de tipo cuantitativo y comparativo. Se seleccionaron 124 alumnos divididos por su nivel académico; 78 alumnos de IV año, 36 alumnos de V año y 10 alumnos del curso de Postgrado de Especialización en Odontopediatría. Se utilizó un video odontopediátrico educativo en formato DVD sobre técnicas de cepillado en preescolares. A los alumnos se les aplicó un test de selección múltiple previo y posterior a la exhibición del video. Para medir el rendimiento académico y analizar la intervención del video se aplicó el test de t de Student y McNemar. Además se aplicó una encuesta de opinión tipo Likert, para conocer la percepción frente a la valoración y el grado de satisfacción del video educativo como actividad docente, posterior a la exhibición del video.

  Resultados: Se observó que el video tuvo una intervención estadísticamente significativa en los tres niveles académicos con p=0,001. En relación a la percepción del video educativo, se observó que la valoración y el grado de satisfacción fueron positivas.

  Conclusiones: La intervención pedagógica de un video educativo como material de refuerzo docente fue estadísticamente significativa. Hubo un incremento del rendimiento de conocimientos teóricos sobre técnicas de cepillado en preescolares en los tres niveles académicos. La percepción de los estudiantes universitarios fue positiva para la valoración y el grado de satisfacción del video en la docencia.

  Introduction: In odontopediatrics, teaching can improve the delivery of knowledge and competencies in the clinical activities with the use of educational videos.

  Aim: To evaluate the pedagogic intervention of a video in the area of "Prevention and control of the mouth in children" to a group of students who underwent Odontopediatric course of the Faculty of Dentistry of Universidad de Chile.

  Material and Method: the study was quantitative and comparative. 124 students were selected divided according their academic level; 78 students of IV year, 36 students of V year and 10 students of Postgraduate Specialization in Odontopediatrics. A video was used in DVD format about techniques of brushing in pre-school students. A test of multiple choice questions was applied to students before and after to the exhibition of the video. To measure the academic performance and to analyze the intervention of the video a T-Student test and test of McNemar were applied. In addition, an opinion questionnaire was applied in Likert type format to know the perception about the valuation and the degree of satisfaction of the educational video as educational activity, after the exhibition of the video.

  Results: It was observed that the video had a statistically significant intervention in three academic levels with p=0.001. In relation to the perception of the educational video, it was observed that the value and the degree of satisfaction were positive.

  Conclusions: The pedagogic intervention of an educational video of educational reinforcement was statistically significant. There was an increase of the performance of cognitive knowledge on techniques of brushing in pre-school students in three academic levels. The perception of the dentistry students was positive for the value and the degree of satisfaction of the video.
