  El programa ESTALMAT para detectar y estimular el talento matemático precoz fue ideado por el Profesor Miguel de Guzmán (1936-2004) y puesto en funcionamiento en 1998 en la región de Madrid bajo los auspicios académicos de la Real Academia de Ciencias Exactas, Físicas y Naturales. Se ha extenido ya a varias regiones de la geografía española. En este artículo se describe el proceso de selección y el tipo de actividades que se realizan, incluyendo algunos ejemplos.

  ESTALMAT is a program to detect, stimulate and guide the talent of mathematically gifted children. It was designed by Professor Miguel de Guzmán and started in 1998 in the region of Madrid under the academic guidance of the Royal Spanish Academy of Sciences. The program is now running in several regions of Spain. In this article we describe the selecction process and the type of activities done, icluding some examples.
