• I have an experience of many years as a teacher and I think that some textbooks do not insist enough in clarifying the difficulties that arise when considering the independence of events within a single random experiment and, in particular, what happens when they are compound experiments. I shall discuss here my experience regarding how to bypass these difficulties through a few examples.
