  Cualquier sistema está constituido por una serie de dispositivosinterconectados de forma tal que sean capaces de realizar unasfunciones concretas. Estos bloques funcionales pueden estar constituidos por un único componente o por complejos subsistemas, dependiendo del tipo de sistema y de las interconexiones en el mismo. El estado de los componentes y la estructura del sistema determinan si un sistema está funcionando o no. En definitiva, cuantificar la fiabilidad de un sistema requiere, generalmente, considerar la estructura del sistema y la fiabilidad de sus componentes. La herramienta software EMSI (Evaluación y Modelado de Sistemas Informáticos) está diseñada para realizar evaluación de la fiabilidad y el rendimiento de configuraciones en Sistemas Informáticos (SSII).

  All systems are comprised by a series of interconnected devicesin such way that they are capable of performing particular functions. These functional blocks may be constituted by a single component or complex subsystems, depending on the type of system and its interconnections. The state of the components and the structure of the system determine if a system is working or not. Ultimately, to quantify the reliability a system requires, generally involves considering the structure of the system and the reliability of its components. EMSI software tool (Evaluation and Modeling of Computer Systems) is designed for evaluating the reliability and performance of configurations in Computing Systems (SSII).
