We describe a small-group, model-building activity designed to lead students to conjecture the number, and some of the nature, of polytopes in four-dimensional space. We build models of regular polyhedra in three dimensions with the goal of understanding why there are only five of them, and then use them to make predictions about regular polytopes in four dimensions.
