On the (2, 3)-generation of hyperbolic symplectic groups of large rank

  • For a wide class of commutative rings including Z and some other rings with non-invertible 2, we prove that for n . 25 the elementary hyperbolic symplectic group ESp2n(R) can be generated by an involution and an element of order 3.
