  • The Dioscorides'book 'Plants and medical remedies (De Materia medica)' includes refrences to body fossils, chemical fossils and recent animals, in wich fossils remains were also included. The body fossils are ivory (Arabic Stone), echinoids (Jewish Stone) and bivalvian mollusca (Ostracita Stone). Chemical fossils are asphalt, jet (Gagas Stone) and bituminous soil. Finally, recent animals are represented by river crabs, deer antlers and corals.
