We study the modeling and implementation of hybrid control strategies for temperature regulation in a solar-powered thermal plant. In particular, the performance of the hybrid PI+CI and reset-and-hold controllers is compared against that of a classical PI controller with anti-windup compensation. The results show that, in the presence of stochastic disturbances associated with cloudiness (which affect the effective energy captured by a parabolic dish concentrator PDC), the hybrid strategies improve temperature tracking and reduce error persistence with respect to the conventional PI controller.
