  • Society is currently facing a severe climate and energy crisis, which has driven the advancement of cleaner and more sustainable technologies. Among the various options available, hydrogen has emerged as a highly important energy carrier, valued both for its direct use as a fuel and its environmental benefits. This has led to the development of increasingly sophisticated electrolysis systems for hydrogen production. The primary goal of this paper is to design an AEM electrolyser that operates without precious catalysts, capable of achieving high current densities and, consequently, high efficiency. To address this challenge, both a fluid dynamics and engineering study of the process will be conducted, along with the development of the electrolyser itself. This approach will enhance understanding of electrolyte behavior within the system and outline the steps needed to scale the electrolyser from laboratory to industrial applications.
