This study analyzes the use of active teaching methodologies in sustainability education and in the acquisition of knowledge about the sustainable development goals (SDGs). To this end, a systematic review of the literature has been carried out using the PRISMA methodology.

The results obtained allow us to identify different variables such as the most active countries, the most used active methodologies, the most studied educational stages and the benefits obtained.

Among the most conclusive results obtained, it is observed that the majority of the studies are carried out at the university stage, and the most used active methodologies are Project-Based Learning, Problem-Based Learning, Service-Based Learning and Gamification. Furthermore, it is shown that all active methodologies favor the acquisition of knowledge in the SDGs and/or skills and competencies related to sustainability, with the most developed SDGs being 4, 11 and 3.
