Resumen de The impact of GeoGebra on student confidence and perceptions in Calculus III

Tanvir Prince

  • This study investigates the impact of GeoGebra, a dynamic, accessible, and easy-to-use mathematics software, on student confidence and perceptions of its helpfulness in the context of Calculus III courses. A quasi-experimental design was employed to compare four sections of Calculus III, with two sections integrating GeoGebra for in-class demonstrations and at-home practice and two sections relying on traditional lectures and textbook visualisations. Surveys were administered at the end of the semester to assess student confidence and their perceptions of GeoGebra's helpfulness in understanding 16 primary topics in Calculus III. Results indicate that students in sections using GeoGebra reported higher confidence levels and perceived the software as more helpful for comprehending the course material compared to students in sections without GeoGebra. The findings suggest that the integration of GeoGebra in Calculus III courses positively influences student outcomes by improving their confidence and understanding of complex Calculus III concepts.
