The journal Mathematische Annalen was founded in 1868 by Alfred Clebsch and Carl Neumann. It was continued by Felix Klein, David Hilbert, Otto Blumenthal, Erich Hecke, Heinrich Behnke, Hans Grauert, Heinz Bauer, Herbert Amann, Jean-Pierre Bourguigon and Wolfgang Lück.
