Resumen de Modeling the navigation with services

Esperanza Marcos Martínez Árbol académico, Paloma Cáceres García de Marina Árbol académico, Valeria de Castro

  • Traditional methodologies for Web Information Systems (WIS) development consider the navigation model to be a technique useful for representing the structure in which data is shown to the user, and is usually obtained from the conceptual data model. However, this approach does not take into account the behavior dimension of a WIS in the navigation modeling process. Therefore, the services and the interaction with the user are not represented in the navigation model or, at best, are artificially "glued" to the navigational classes. In this paper, we propose a method for the systematic construction of the navigation model starting from both the conceptual data model and the use case model. This approach allows a navigation model to be obtained which integrates the structured information and the services, providing a unified view of the structural and behavior aspects of a WIS. The method is part of MIDAS, a methodology for WIS development, which includes the process, the models and the mapping rules between them. Before defining the method we summarize some concepts such as use services, extended use case model, structural and functional slices, extended slice model and extended navigation model. We present the method through a case study.
