Supporting a collaborative task in a web-based learning environment with Artificial Intelligence and User Modelling techniques

    • Intelligent learning management systems (iLMS) are being built to improve the effectiveness of the learning process by providing adapted responses to the learners’ needs. These systems integrate Artificial Intelligence and User Modelling techniques to support learners and tutors in their interaction with the system. In this work we focus on the first two steps for building these adaptive systems for a concrete collaborative task designed for webbased learning environments called Collaborative Logic Framework (CLF). To see the implications of the approach presented in this paper, we have analysed its feasibility in a real iLMS called aLFanet (IST-2001-33288). Finally, we outline the evaluation process that has to be done to validate this proposal.
