  • Bien conocida desde la antigüedad, fue durante el Renacimiento cuando la proyección estereográfica adquirió su papel predominante como procedimiento matemático para la construcción de planisferios. Este artículo es una mezcla de historia de la cartografía y matemática elemental. Se abordan los modos polar y meridiana de la proyección estereográfica. Finalmente, se incluyen algunas demostraciones matemáticas relacionadas.
